My name is Stephanie.
I love Jesus, dogs, reading, hiking and other outdoor activities, travel, food and cooking, trying new restaurants, hanging out with friends and family.
In 2010 I read a book called The Maker’s Diet by Jordan Rubin. It was revolutionary and I immediately started making life changes. At the same time I was introduced to The Weston A Price Foundation (Home – The Weston A. Price Foundation). They are a great organization fighting on our behalf for food freedom, access to non-toxic products and natural alternative health care. I so much enjoyed learning about food and nutrition that I took a course and got certified as a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner.
I love food and reading about how it nourishes us (or doesn’t, as is the case with fake food/ultra-processed food). I like learning more about ancestral diets and how people used to know what to eat to be healthy. Somehow, we have lost this wisdom. I am starting this blog to encourage other Christians to be wise about food; to “get back” the wisdom of our ancestors.
I believe in the redeeming grace of Jesus Christ. I believe that He does heal us and save us from our sin if we repent. I believe He can but does not always heal our diseases.
I believe that God created our bodes to function in a certain way with the proper nutrients. Real food provides those nutrients. Fake food will make us sick and is responsible for the premature death of millions.
I believe that the path to health and eating properly is a spiritual journey and should be a part of living godly lives. I believe that what we are currently eating is not part of God’s plan for us. This is obvious because of how unhealthy we are as a nation.
I believe that highly processed food is one of many tools Satan uses to make us sick and undermine our ministries.
Changing what we eat to the real food that God created is how we change our generational health issues. I believe that eating real food honors our Lord by helping our bodies operate in the way He intended.
Christians are taught that we should keep our minds and thoughts clean as God commands. We are taught to be careful about what we read or watch so that our hearts are pure. Most Christians are against smoking cigarettes. We consider this habit as polluting our bodies. But not much is said about sugary cereal for breakfast, fast food for lunch, and a lasagna for dinner that comes out of a box. Addictions are not limited to drugs and alcohol. Sugar is powerfully addictive and can also kill you, just like drugs, alcohol, and cigarettes.
I would like to see Christians think of processed food, sugar, and additives on the same lines as cigarettes, or as watching a movie that has inappropriate language and/or scenes.
By the way, I like sugar, too. I like it a lot. It’s a struggle to resist, especially when someone is waving cookies under my nose. I do not think having one cookie is sinful. It’s when having one cookie leads to twenty cookies and many slices of cake because of the addictive properties of sugar and other additives.
We need to make this change for the sake of the next generation. We need our children to learn what makes us healthy and strong for the sake of their own children.
